Ojibaru Onsen Kenko-mura is a comprehensive hot spring leisure facility located in Takaharu Town, Nishimorokata District, Miyazaki Prefecture, established in 1972 (Showa 47). Centered around natural hot springs and complemented by Western Japan's largest rainbow trout farm, a restaurant, and accommodation facilities, it has been cherished by local residents and tourists for many years as a complex facility themed on health and relaxation.
The facility's greatest feature is its 100% natural flowing hot spring water. The spring quality is sodium bicarbonate spring, also characterized as carbonated iron spring due to its high iron content, presenting as brown-colored water with good skin compatibility. The source temperature is an ideal 45°C, rich in magnesium and calcium, and is said to be effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, chronic digestive diseases, diabetes, and fatigue recovery.
The bathing facilities are extremely well-equipped, featuring a large communal bath, ultrasonic bath, bubble bath, jet bath, electric bath, and other facilities totaling 8 types of baths in an observation bathing area. The men's bathing room offers a panoramic view of Mount Takachiho-no-Mine, the sacred peak of the Kirishima mountain range, allowing bathing while enjoying magnificent scenery. A far-infrared sauna is also provided, and the cold water bath uses natural cold water called Kirishima fissure water, enabling alternating hot and cold bathing to refresh both body and mind. An outdoor bath is also available, allowing guests to relax in the hot spring while experiencing nature through the four seasons.
Adjacent to the hot spring facility is Western Japan's largest rainbow trout farm, where visitors can enjoy fishing for rainbow trout and carp. The caught fish can be brought to the on-site restaurant for cooking, allowing guests to savor fresh fish dishes, which is a major attraction. The restaurant also serves dishes made with local ingredients and can accommodate banquets.
Day-trip bathing is available to everyone, with operating hours from 9:00 to 19:30 and closed on Tuesdays. Bathing fees are very reasonable at 500 yen for adults and 250 yen for children, making it widely used by both local residents for daily use and tourists. Accommodation is available for groups and sports training camps, making it ideal for activities combining hot springs and sports.
The facility allows visitors to take home source spring water and Kirishima fissure water free of charge, which is popular among health-conscious users. A parking lot with 200 spaces is provided, making car access convenient.
Located at the foot of Mount Takachiho-no-Mine in a lush natural environment, the quiet setting where visitors can relax while listening to bird songs is also an attraction. As a comprehensive leisure facility where hot springs, dining, fishing, and accommodation can be enjoyed in one location, it is ideal for family outings and group trips.
