Hot Spring Overview
Orihashi Ryokan is a historic hot spring inn established in 1879 (Meiji 12) in Myoken Onsen, Kagoshima Prefecture. Located along the Amori River in Makizono-cho, Kirishima City, it features 12 detached guest rooms with private open-air baths spread across a spacious 10,000 tsubo (approximately 33,000 square meters) property. As a member of the Japan Association of Secluded Hot Spring Inns, the ryokan boasts four private spring sources, all offering free-flowing natural hot springs available 24 hours. The highlight is Kizu-yu (Healing Bath), a lukewarm 33-degree spring unique to this location, renowned for its effectiveness in treating insect bites and atopic dermatitis. The water quality is sodium-magnesium-calcium bicarbonate spring with source temperatures ranging from 16 to 56 degrees and an abundant flow of 260 liters per minute. The facility houses 12 indoor baths and 11 open-air baths totaling 23 bathing areas including the grand open-air Enoki-no-yu and Takenoe-yu. The Taisho-era main building is also architecturally noteworthy. The kaiseki cuisine featuring local seasonal ingredients is highly acclaimed.
