Gokuraku Onsen Takumi no Yado is a traditional hot spring inn nestled at the foot of the sacred Mount Takachiho-no-Mine in Oku-Kirishima Onsen Village, Takaharu Town, Miyazaki Prefecture. The inn was founded when the founder's grandfather discovered this high-concentration carbonated mineral spring while searching for a healing hot spring. He named it 'Gokuraku Onsen' (Paradise Hot Spring) with the wish to create a place where everyone could be equally healed.
The inn's most distinctive feature is the 'Iccho-sekiburo' (single-carved stone bath), a massive bath carved from a single 20-ton rock, offering an impressive and overwhelming presence. The spring quality is iron-carbonate spring, known for its wide range of therapeutic effects including gastrointestinal disorders, gynecological conditions, neuralgia, beautiful skin, sensitivity to cold, joint pain, and anemia. It has been selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Hot Springs. The facility also features open-air baths, saunas, and carbonated mineral spring cold baths, allowing guests to enjoy various bathing styles.
The inn retains the atmosphere and charm of the early Showa period. A specialty is the irori (hearth) dining experience, where guests can enjoy 'Irori Kaiseki' cuisine featuring seasonal ingredients from Miyazaki Prefecture, prepared with luxury, elegance, and delicate craftsmanship. It has been cherished as a warm and welcoming inn where pilgrims and mountain climbers can safely rest and recover from their journeys.
