Misasa Onsen Ryokan Ohashi
Hot Spring Overview
Located on the banks of the Mitoku River in the heart of Misasa Onsen in Tottori Prefecture, this historic ryokan stands in one of the world's most radium-rich hot spring resorts. Built in 1932 as a three-story wooden structure by master temple carpenters, five of its buildings (main building, detached annex, west annex, grand hall, and drum bridge) were designated as Registered Tangible Cultural Properties of Japan in 1997. The signature Gankutsu-no-Yu (Cave Bath) features hot spring water naturally welling up from cracks in the bedrock at the bathers' feet. Of its three pools, the lower and middle ones are radium springs, while the upper pool is a thorium spring unique to Ryokan Ohashi within Misasa Onsen, certified in 1948 as the highest concentration in the world. The inn maintains five private sources (three artesian), with a source temperature of approximately 62 degrees Celsius, pH 6.5, classified as a weakly radioactive sodium chloride spring, beneficial for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, poor circulation, and immune system enhancement.
