Yoshioka Onsen Ichinoyu
Hot Spring Overview
Yoshioka Onsen Ichinoyu is a public day-use bathhouse located in the heart of Yoshioka Onsen, one of the oldest hot spring towns in San'in region with approximately 1,000 years of history. According to the temple records of Hosenji, the spring was discovered in 962 by a wealthy local named Ashioka, and during the Edo period it flourished as a healing retreat for the Ikeda clan, the lords of the Tottori Domain. The current facility stands on the site of the former Ichinoyu Ochaya, a teahouse reserved exclusively for the feudal lord. The source water emerges at 51.3 degrees Celsius at a flow rate of 100 liters per minute, classified as a simple alkaline spring (sodium-sulfate-chloride-bicarbonate type, pH 8.0). It holds the Pure Onsen A certification, meaning the water is supplied without dilution, heating, recirculation, or chlorination. The facility offers two main bathing areas, the wooden Ki-buro and the rocky Iwa-buro, each featuring indoor baths, open-air baths, and cascade baths.
