Hanashiki Onsen Irori no Oyado Hanashikinoyu is a secluded one-inn hot spring ryokan located in a mountain village about 25 minutes by car from Kusatsu Onsen in Nakanojo Town, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture. Selected as one of 'Japan's Small Inns,' it's also certified as a 'Pure Hot Spring' by the Pure Hot Spring Association. It's a secret hot spring wrapped in tranquility, known for traditional hearth cuisine.
The hot spring is a calcium/sodium-bicarbonate/sulfate spring (weakly alkaline hypotonic high-temperature spring) with source water flow-through. The water is colorless and transparent with a gentle spring quality. It's said to be effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery.
The greatest attraction is the specialty 'Irori Shinzan Kaiseki Cuisine' for dinner. In the unique atmosphere of the large wooden hall, you can enjoy cuisine made with heartfelt care one dish at a time, surrounding the hearth. Regional dishes featuring seasonal ingredients such as local mountain vegetables and river fish are served.
It's a small inn with 8 rooms total, with warm family-run hospitality as its charm. Accommodation rates are approximately 16,000-17,600 yen per person per night with two meals. Day-use bathing is not accepted (overnight guests only). Check-in is at 15:00, check-out at 10:00, with irregular holidays.
Access is by car from JR Agatsuma Line Naganohara-Kusatsuguchi Station (about 30 minutes). By car, it's about 90 minutes from Shibukawa-Ikaho IC on the Kanetsu Expressway. Free parking is available. It's also close to Kusatsu Onsen, and many people visit in combination with Kusatsu sightseeing. It's a precious one-inn lodging where you can enjoy hearth cuisine and hot springs in a quiet mountain village.
