Yakushi Onsen Hatago is a hot spring inn located along the Nukuregawa River sourced from Mt. Asamakakushi in Higashiagatsuma Town, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture. With the concept of 'Kayabuki no Sato' (Thatched-roof Village), its unique landscape features thatched-roof houses relocated from across Japan scattered across approximately 23,000 square meters.
The hot spring was discovered in 1793 (Kansei 5) by traveling monk Onsenbo Yumei and has continued naturally flowing for over 200 years. The spring quality is sodium/calcium-chloride/sulfate spring with source temperature of 40.8°C and pH 7.1 neutral hypotonic spring. Source water flows through naturally, effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery.
Bathing facilities include 'Takimi-no-yu' (outdoor bath overlooking Nukuregawa) and 'Yakushi-no-yu' (indoor source flow-through bath). Private baths are also available (40 min 2,200 yen tax included).
