Tange Onsen Misatokan
Hot Spring Overview
Tange Onsen Misatokan is a secluded one-inn lodging and member of the Japan Secret Hot Springs Association, nestled in a mountain retreat in Nakanojo Town, Agatsuma District, Gunma Prefecture. Conceptualized around 'the fragrance of wood,' the inn features luxurious wooden architecture with zelkova wood approximately 300-500 years old used in the lobby with traditional Japanese construction methods. The interior uses quality wood materials generously, creating a healing space wrapped in the warmth of wood.
The hot spring is a calcium-sulfate spring with a source temperature of 36.5°C and pH 8.5, making it weakly alkaline. While using heating and circulation systems, it carefully maintains the source components. It's said to be effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, sensitivity to cold, and fatigue recovery.
It's a small inn with 10 rooms total, with calm guest rooms wrapped in the warmth of wood as its charm. Meals feature seasonal cuisine using local mountain ingredients. Accommodation rates are 40,700-55,000 yen for 2 people per room (tax included), approximately 20,350 yen per person per night with two meals. Day-use bathing is not accepted, available only for overnight guests.
Check-in is at 15:00, check-out at 10:00, with irregular holidays. It's a hideaway inn where you can enjoy the warmth of wood and hot springs in a quiet mountain environment.
Access is by car from JR Agatsuma Line Nakanojo Station (about 30 minutes). By car, it's about 60 minutes from Shibukawa-Ikaho IC on the Kanetsu Expressway. Free parking is available. In winter, studless tires or chains required due to snowfall.
