Shiota Onsen Yumoto Ueyama Ryokan

Hot Spring Overview

Located in Yumesakicho Shiota, Himeji City, Hyogo Prefecture, Ueyama Ryokan is a traditional Japanese inn founded in 1874 (Meiji 7). It was the first inn established in Shiota Onsen, known as 'the inner parlor of Harima Himeji,' and has maintained the source spring 'Shiogatani Kosen' which has been flowing for over 300 years. The water quality is carbon dioxide-containing sodium chloride-bicarbonate spring with a source temperature of 17.4°C, a cold mineral spring that is heated for bathing. The spring water is drinkable with a subtly salty, cider-like taste, and has been traditionally consumed for its therapeutic benefits on gastrointestinal conditions. The facility offers diverse bathing options including a garden bath, cypress bath, open-air bath, and private open-air family bath, all surrounded by seasonal natural scenery. The inn is renowned for its kaiseki cuisine and botan-nabe (wild boar hot pot) featuring local Harima seasonal ingredients. Day-trip plans start at 11,000 yen with lunch, and overnight stays start at 17,600 yen per person with two meals. Located about 30 minutes by car from Himeji Castle, the inn is popular as a base for sightseeing.
