Konda Yakushi Onsen Nukumori no Sato
Hot Spring Overview
A day-trip natural hot spring facility located in Konda-cho, Tanbasasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture. In 1995, the former Konda Town planned a hot spring drilling project for regional development, and in 1999 successfully struck hot water by boring 1,300 meters underground. The facility is named after the Yakushi Nyorai (Medicine Buddha) hill that has been protected by local residents since ancient times, at the foot of which the hot spring was discovered. The water is a weakly radioactive sodium-calcium chloride spring with a source temperature of approximately 30°C and pH 8.22 (mildly alkaline). The water flows directly from the source, with multiple bath temperatures available at 31°C, 39°C, and 42°C. The facility features two main bathing areas: the 'Tamba Pottery Ceramic Bath' which extensively uses Tamba Tachikui-yaki pottery (one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns) for the tubs, outdoor baths, and flooring, and the 'Tamba Stone Bath' which lavishly uses locally quarried Tamba stone. The men's and women's baths alternate weekly. The spring has high heat retention and moisturizing effects, with 24 approved therapeutic indications including neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, gout, and arteriosclerosis. The grounds also include a farmers' market and food processing facility, and visitors can enjoy meals featuring local Tanbasasayama ingredients. The facility has a large parking lot accommodating 350 vehicles.
