Oku-Ine Onsen Shoukaan
Hot Spring Overview
Shoukaan is a small family-run inn in the hamlet of Tomari in Ine Town, on the northeastern edge of the Tango Peninsula in Kyoto Prefecture. Oku-Ine Onsen was first tapped in 1994, and only two lodgings draw from its source: the ryokan Aburaya Honkan and the minshuku Shoukaan. Shoukaan marked its twentieth year of business in 2025 and is known for home-style cooking prepared by the owner using seasonal seafood from the Sea of Japan.
The water is classified as a sodium bicarbonate spring. Rich in bicarbonate, it leaves the skin notably smooth, and Oku-Ine Onsen is known locally as a beautifying hot spring. The inn states that its baths are supplied free-flowing directly from the source. The source temperature and pH are not published by the inn.
The inn has four tatami guest rooms in total, two in the main building and two in the annex, with a hot spring bath in each building. Overnight stays with two meals start at 18,500 yen including tax, with yellowtail and snow crab courses offered in winter and a room-only rate of 9,500 yen, plus a 150 yen bathing tax. Check-in is at 15:00 and check-out at 10:00. Reservations are taken by telephone only, and day-use bathing is not offered.
