Hacchohama Kobama Onsen Kobamaso
Hot Spring Overview
Kobamaso is a small kappo (fine-dining) inn set on the coast of Amino-cho Kobama in Kyotango City, Kyoto Prefecture, just a two-minute walk from the shallow Hacchohama (Kobama) beach facing the Sea of Japan. The inn's twin draws are its Amino-style creative cuisine built around locally caught fish and its natural hot spring bath, Yuemon, served as 100% free-flowing spring water. It sits close to Kotohikihama, famed for its singing sand, and the Asamogawa fishing port, making it easy to enjoy the sea and the bath in a single stay.
The water is a sodium-calcium chloride spring (hypotonic, mildly alkaline, high-temperature) with a source temperature of 50.2 degrees Celsius. The inn advertises pure 100% free-flowing spring water with no added water, no reheating, and no recirculation or filtration. The Hacchohama Kobama spring is certified as a therapeutic spring, said to help with neuralgia, muscle pain, chronic digestive complaints, poor circulation, and chronic skin conditions, and the water may also be sampled as a drinking spring.
The bathing facilities include the main bath Yuemon with both indoor and open-air tubs, plus a private (reservable) bath and a foot bath. In addition to the Japanese-style rooms in the main building, an annex offers private rooms named Yuemon with an in-room hot spring. Dinner features local fish, including a seafood BBQ, and plans range from an economical room-only stay from 4,700 yen to full one-night, two-meal packages.
