Shibu Onsen Shinmeitakinoyu (Shinmei Waterfall Bath)

Hot Spring Overview
The eighth of nine public bathhouses in Shibu Onsen, Yamanouchi Town, Nagano Prefecture. Also known as the 'Fertility Bath', it is said to be effective for gynecological conditions. The water quality is sodium-calcium sulfate-chloride hot spring (hypotonic, neutral, high temperature) with a source temperature of 58.7°C and pH of approximately 6.1, slightly acidic within the neutral range. It is characterized by a strong metallic smell due to its iron content. Shibu Onsen is said to have been discovered about 1,300 years ago by the monk Gyoki, and during the Sengoku period it was used as one of Takeda Shingen's hidden hot springs. The hot spring town stretches about 600 meters with cobblestone streets lined with 30 ryokans and 9 public bathhouses. During the Nine Bath Pilgrimage, visitors collect stamps on a prayer towel at each bath, and completing the pilgrimage with a visit to Shibu Takayakushi Temple fulfills their wishes. The public baths are exclusive to Shibu Onsen overnight guests.
