Hotel Tateyama

Hot Spring Overview
Hotel Tateyama is Japan's highest-altitude resort hotel, situated at 2,450 meters above sea level on the Murodo Plateau, the highest point of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route. Surrounded by the magnificent peaks of the Tateyama Mountain Range, the hotel offers breathtaking views of the Snow Valley (Yuki no Otani) and the Murodo Plateau. Opened in 1971 to coincide with the full opening of the Alpine Route, it has welcomed mountaineers and tourists for over 50 years.
The large public bath features water from Tateyama Tamadono Spring, designated as one of Japan's 100 Best Spring Waters, heated for bathing (available mid-June to November). While not a natural hot spring, the experience of bathing at 2,450 meters in crisp mountain air is truly extraordinary. The facility accommodates 15 bathers each for men and women, with a private family bath also available on the 4th floor.
The hotel offers Western-style dining at Tsurugi restaurant and Japanese cuisine at Tateyama restaurant, featuring fresh seafood from Toyama Bay and local seasonal ingredients. The tea lounge Rindo provides relaxation with panoramic mountain views. The hotel operates seasonally from mid-April to late November, with accommodation starting at approximately 34,000 yen per person with two meals. Note that overnight accommodation services will end on August 31, 2026, after which only the restaurant and shop will continue operating.
