Babadani Onsen is a hot spring located in Kurobe City, Toyama Prefecture, deep within the Kurobe Gorge. It can be found along a mountain trail in the Babadani Valley, beyond Keyakidaira Station, the last stop on the Kurobe Gorge Railway. Known as a secluded and wild hot spring surrounded by vast nature, it is popular among hikers and "hitou" (hidden hot spring) enthusiasts. The "Babadani Onsen Goya" mountain hut is the sole accommodation, offering a rustic hot spring experience with abundant, free-flowing spring water. The area is enveloped by steep mountains and pristine, untouched nature, creating a tranquil haven.
Unpaved 15min
Babadani Onsen requires a hike of approximately 50 minutes to 1 hour along a mountain trail from Keyakidaira Station, the terminus of the Kurobe Gorge Railway, and cannot be accessed directly by car. The facility is the "Babadani Onsen Goya" mountain hut, which has a rustic appearance, unlike typical hot spring facilities in tourist areas. It is situated in a rugged natural environment, and the number of visitors is limited, allowing one to fully experience the atmosphere of a hidden hot spring. Considering these factors comprehensively, it was evaluated as Level 3 "Secluded Hot Spring."
The starting point for Babadani Onsen is Keyakidaira Station, the terminal station of the Kurobe Gorge Railway. From Keyakidaira Station, it is approximately a 50-minute to 1-hour hike along a maintained mountain trail to reach Babadani Onsen. The trail has ups and downs, requiring proper hiking gear. Direct access by car is not possible.
