Awara Onsen Grandia Housen is a grand-scale hot spring resort in Awara City, Fukui Prefecture, established in 1963. Starting as a modest 80-guest inn called 'Housenso,' it has grown into one of Hokuriku's premier hot spring resorts with 111 rooms accommodating up to 555 guests. The expansive 7,000-tsubo grounds feature Japanese gardens that showcase the beauty of each season, while the observatory grand bath 'Heavenly SPA' offers panoramic views of the Sakai Plain. The alkaline simple hot spring water (pH 8.8) from three private sources is gentle on the skin with notable beautifying effects. With 33 rooms featuring private outdoor baths, the resort has hosted distinguished guests including Prince Akishino in 2005.
