Hanahasu Onsen Somayama is a combined day-trip bathing and accommodation facility nestled in the mountains of Minami-Echizen Town, Fukui Prefecture. The facility takes its name from the lotus flower (hanahasu), which is the town flower of Minami-Echizen, and every July the surrounding lotus fields bloom with colorful flowers. The alkaline simple hot spring water is characteristically gentle on the skin. The spacious outdoor bath offers views of the surrounding mountains through the seasons, with the autumn foliage season being particularly atmospheric. The facility includes a sauna and serves as a beloved gathering place for local residents. The restaurant features dishes made with local ingredients, and soba noodle-making experiences are also popular. With good access from Imajo IC on the Hokuriku Expressway and a vast parking area for 200 vehicles, it is an ideal stop for travelers passing through the area.
