Kakuto Onsen (Koi Ryori Kakuto Onsen)

Kakuto Onsen is a small hot spring inn in Nishinagaeura, Ebino City, Miyazaki Prefecture, known for its carp cuisine. It sits about five minutes by car from Ebino Interchange on the Kyushu Expressway, in a basin blessed with spring water, and serves carp and trout raised in natural spring water alongside its baths.

The water is a simple hot spring that is clear, colorless and odorless, with a source temperature of about 38 degrees Celsius and a neutral pH of about 7.1. It is a gentle, soft-feeling bath supplied as kakenagashi (free-flowing, not recirculated); the lukewarm water is heated in winter before it enters the tubs. Because the water is mild, bathers can stay in comfortably even in summer.

The baths include a stone-built indoor tub and a rock bath, kept at different temperatures. Day-use bathing costs 400 yen for adults, 200 yen for elementary school children and 100 yen for infants, from 15:00 until 20:00 (last entry). From the end of the rainy season to mid-September, bathing opens at 10:00. The inn has eight Japanese-style rooms and a parking lot.
