Yubara Onsen Nekohana no Yu is a hot spring facility located in the northern part of Otari Village, Kitaazumi District, Nagano Prefecture, along the Himekawa River.
If you continue about 10 minutes from this hot spring, you'll suddenly come across a flowing hot spring.
Since it's completely exposed, it might be better to have a swimsuit or similar covering.
Within 1 hour
I rated Nekohana no Yu as level 2, but this one is rated as level 4 because it's located in the midst of nature and requires one to bathe without fear of being completely exposed.
Access to Yubara Onsen Nekohana no Yu is along National Route 148. Coming from the direction of Hakuba Village, after passing the "Otari Roadside Station," look for a beckoning cat-shaped hot spring sign on the right side just before the Yubara Tunnel. Following the road from the sign, there is a downhill slope on the right, and at the bottom of the slope, you will see a prefabricated hut. Access is primarily by car, taking about 5 minutes from the national highway, but in winter, the route may change due to snow conditions. Additionally, winter operations depend on snowfall conditions, so prior confirmation is necessary. Information about access by public transportation is scarce, and visits are generally assumed to be by private vehicle. In winter, snow tires and four-wheel drive vehicles are recommended.
