Totsukawa Onsen Seikyo no Yado Sansui

Seikyo no Yado Sansui is a single hot spring inn standing in the Totsukawa Onsen hot spring town on the shore of Lake Nitsuno, in the Hiradani district of Totsukawa Village, Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture. The hot spring town took shape after the source water upstream was piped to Hiradani during the construction of the Nitsuno Dam in 1974, and the inn, located just 300 meters from the source, underwent a major renovation in August 2012. Totsukawa Village is also known as the first municipality in Japan to issue a 'source-fed flow-through declaration' in 2004.

The water is a sodium bicarbonate-chloride spring drawn from the mixed No. 2 and No. 7 sources of Totsukawa Onsen, with a source temperature of 60.2°C and a pH of 7.5 (weakly alkaline). The flow rate is a generous 867 liters per minute, and the water has a faint sulfur scent with a smooth, silky texture. Because the source water is very hot, natural spring water welling up on the property is added to moderate the temperature, said to leave the skin feeling gentle and slow to cool.

The inn offers two large communal baths, 'Tsuki no Yu' and 'Hoshi no Yu' (swapped between men and women at night), each with an indoor bath, an open-air bath, and a reclining bath, plus two private baths, for a total of eight baths, all fed directly from the source. With only 9 guest rooms and a capacity of 24 guests, the small inn serves rustic kaiseki-style dinners made with ingredients from the Kii Peninsula and the property's own spring water. Day-trip bathing is available from 14:00 to 20:00 for 800 yen (adults) and 500 yen (children), though hours are subject to irregular closures and advance inquiry is recommended.
