Yusenchi Onsen Taki-no-Yu is a village-operated public bathhouse located in Ohara, Totsukawa Village, Yoshino District, Nara Prefecture. The history of Yusenchi Onsen dates back to 1450 (Hotoku 2), when hot water first emerged from the earth, and legend attributes its discovery to the ascetic En-no-Gyoja, making it the oldest hot spring in the village. In 1581, the feudal lord Sakuma Nobumori visited for therapeutic bathing, followed by the Buddhist patriarch Kennyo in 1586 and the nobleman Yamato Chunagon Hideyasu in 1595, establishing its reputation as a renowned spring since the Sengoku period. In 2004, Totsukawa Village became the first municipality in Japan to declare all its hot springs as entirely free-flowing from the source, with all 25 hot spring facilities in the village operating without any circulation, reuse, heating, dilution, or chlorine disinfection.

The spring water is classified as an alkaline simple sulfur spring (low osmotic pressure, alkaline, high temperature) with a source temperature of 51.4 degrees Celsius and a pH of 8.8. The colorless and transparent water emits an elegant sulfur aroma and has a smooth, silky texture on the skin, characteristic of a beauty spring. The current Taki-no-Yu facility was renovated in March 2009, when the village acquired and rebuilt a former ryokan. The building makes generous use of local Totsukawa timber, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The second floor houses an indoor bath lined with red granite, while stone steps lead down to an outdoor bath of white granite. From the outdoor bath, visitors can enjoy the spectacular sight of a waterfall cascading directly before their eyes, immersing themselves in a bathing experience that feels at one with the surrounding gorge.
