Ubanoyu Ryokan
Hot Spring Overview
Ubanoyu Ryokan stands in the Kawarayu district of Naruko Onsen in Osaki, Miyagi Prefecture, a short walk from the center of the hot spring town. The inn's springs are said to have been used for more than 400 years, and the inn was formerly known as Yoshitsune Yukari no Yu Ubanoyu. Legend holds that when Minamoto no Yoshitsune's party fled north to Hiraizumi, a child born here was given its first bath in these waters. The previous owners closed the inn at the end of March 2025, and under new management it reopened in September 2026 as a room-only inn.
The property has four privately owned springs with different water types, all served as free-flowing source water without dilution. The waters include sulfur, simple hot spring and sodium bicarbonate-sulfate types, so one stay lets guests sample the variety Naruko is known for.
Each of the four springs is offered as a private bath. The inn has 15 Japanese-style rooms and is built around room-only stays. Free parking and free Wi-Fi are provided, and the inn is about a 7-minute walk from JR Naruko-Onsen Station.
