Hot Spring Overview
Ogura-no-Yu is the communal bathhouse of Kutsukake Onsen in Aoki Village, Chiisagata District, Nagano Prefecture. It was named after Mount Obogami, which resembles Mount Ogura in Kyoto. The hot spring has a storied history dating back to the Heian period, when Provincial Governor Prince Shigeno cured his eye ailment in these waters. Together with Tazawa Onsen, it is designated as a National Health Resort Hot Spring. The water is an alkaline simple hot spring with an exceptionally high pH of 9.5, renowned as a beauty spring that leaves skin silky smooth. The bathing area features two pools: a smaller one at the back with the natural source water at approximately 39 degrees Celsius for lukewarm soaking, and a medium-sized heated pool at the front for those who prefer warmer water. This free-flowing natural hot spring offers high-quality bathing at an affordable price of 300 yen for adults, earning high praise from hot spring enthusiasts. Located right next to Kanoya Ryokan, the bathhouse preserves the rustic atmosphere of a traditional therapeutic bathing village.
