Okuyamaga Onsen Ryokan
Hot Spring Overview
Okuyamaga Onsen Ryokan is a small eight-room hot spring inn in the Hirayama Onsen area of Yamaga, Kumamoto Prefecture. Founded in the Showa era, it keeps a calm, old-fashioned atmosphere in the quiet countryside of Hirayama.
The bath water is an alkaline simple sulfur spring with a pH of 9.7 and a source temperature of about 60 degrees Celsius. It is used as pure free-flowing source water, with no added water, no heating, no recirculation and no disinfection. As a highly alkaline spring, it feels smooth on the skin.
The inn has an indoor bath and an open-air bath, and every guest room has its own private hot spring bath that can be used 24 hours a day. Free parking for 20 cars is available, and the inn is about 20 minutes by car from the Nankan or Kikusui interchange on the Kyushu Expressway.
