A hot spring inn located on a sandbar in the Chikugo River in Ukiha City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Chikugogawa Onsen is a relatively new hot spring area, discovered in 1955 by local volunteers after the great flood of 1953, and was designated a National Health Resort Hot Spring in 1968. The water quality is Kyushu's only alkaline, bubbling sulfur spring, containing rare natural radon. With a high pH of 8.7, it is known as 'Milky Hot Spring' for its distinctive silky, smooth feel. It has moisturizing and peeling effects, making it gentle enough for babies and those with sensitive skin. The main baths include two types - one with outdoor bath and one indoor only - which alternate between men and women daily. Four private baths are available with different themes: cypress, water slide, stone, and rock outdoor baths. The spring has drinking permission, and visitors can drink the hot spring water and take it home. The inn is popular for allowing pets, with rooms where guests can stay with their dogs and cats. The Chikugo River is famous for summer cormorant fishing, set against the scenic backdrop of the Mino Mountain Range, and the surrounding area offers fruit picking activities.
