Noji Onsen Hotel
Hot Spring Overview
Located at approximately 1,200 meters above sea level on the northwestern slope of Mt. Kimen in Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture. Originally established in the early Meiji era (around 1868) as Katoya Ryokan, it was later renamed to Noji Onsen Ryokan and then to the current Noji Onsen Hotel in 1974. Part of the Tsuchiyu-Toge Onsen Village, the hotel is surrounded by primeval beech forests. Its greatest attraction is six distinctly different bathing facilities, all featuring 100% free-flowing natural hot spring water. The milky white sulfur spring is classified as a Simple Sulfur Spring (hydrogen sulfide type) with a source temperature of 50.3 degrees Celsius. The outdoor bath Kimen-no-Yu offers panoramic views of the beech forest and is lit up at night. The indoor bath Senju-no-Yu is the oldest in the hotel, built entirely of cypress wood. Tengu-no-Yu features a unique design allowing guests to move from the indoor bath to the outdoor bath without changing. The male-only Ken-no-Yu and female-only Ogi-no-Yu include saunas. Kimen-no-Yu, Tengu-no-Yu, and Senju-no-Yu alternate between male and female use every 3 hours, and bathing is available 24 hours. With 61 guest rooms, it serves as a full-scale hot spring hotel and a base for hiking in the Azuma and Adatara mountain ranges. Selected as a JR East Chi-Onsen destination.
