THE BEACH KUROTAKE

THE BEACH KUROTAKE is a hot spring inn on a bluff overlooking Ise Bay along the Utsumi coast in Minamichita, Chita District, Aichi Prefecture. Formerly known as Kanko Hotel Uotomo, the property underwent a full renovation and reopened under its current name, and it is now known as the only hot spring inn on the Chita Peninsula with a genuine source-fed, non-circulating bath. The inn draws from its own on-site source, KUROTAKE no Yu, and steam can be seen rising directly from the source within the grounds.

The spring water is classified as a sodium chloride spring, with a source temperature of 50.2 degrees Celsius. The bath water is neither diluted nor heated; temperature is instead adjusted by controlling the flow rate of the source water, and the bath is not put through circulation filtration (though it is treated with a small amount of chlorine for hygiene). The water has a clear, faintly yellowish tint and a subtle briny scent, and is said to be beneficial for neuralgia, muscle and joint pain, poor circulation, and general fatigue recovery, among other conditions.

The bathing facilities include an approximately 60-square-meter indoor bath and an open-air bath, both separated by gender, offering an open view of Ise Bay. Some rooms on the upper floors and the 4th floor come with their own private open-air hot spring baths (including the Open-Air Bath Japanese-Western Rooms A and B and the View Bath Japanese-Western Room). All 24 guest rooms face the ocean, and the hot spring is reserved exclusively for overnight guests, with no day-trip bathing available.
