Tsukiori Onsen Shirakiso

Shirakiso is a single-inn hot spring located along National Route 461 in Konamase, Daigo Town, Kuji District, Ibaraki Prefecture, on the upstream side of the famous Fukuroda Falls. The relatively young hot spring was discovered in 1992 (Heisei 4) during nearby golf course construction, and local residents subsequently came together to open the inn, which has since been run under the motto of being "loved by, and contributing to, the local community."

The spring water is classified as an alkaline simple hot spring, with a source temperature of 41.8°C and a pH of 8.9. It is colorless, transparent, and gentle on the skin, and is said to be effective for neuralgia, muscle pain, lower back pain, poor circulation, and general fatigue recovery. Rather than a pure source-fed flow (kakenagashi), the baths use a combination of fresh source water and recirculated, filtered and disinfected water, and the water is not suitable for drinking.

The facility offers two bath types: an indoor bath finished in tile and stone, and a rock-built outdoor bath enclosed by a wooden fence. The 13-room wooden inn retains a nostalgic, Showa-era atmosphere throughout. Day-trip bathing costs 600 yen for adults and is available from 8:00 to 18:00. An overnight stay with two meals starts at 9,150 yen per person (meal-plan pricing was revised in July 2025), featuring home-style Japanese cooking made with local ingredients.
