Nakanogo Onsen Yasuragi no Yu

Located on Hachijojima, the largest of the Izu Islands roughly 287 kilometers south of central Tokyo, Nakanogo Onsen Yasuragi no Yu is a public day-use bathhouse run by the town of Hachijo, set on a bluff in the Nakanogo district on the island's eastern side. The facility draws its water from a source known as the Nakanogo Onsen No. 2 Well. It sits about 18 minutes by car from Hachijojima Airport and around 21 minutes from Sokodo Port, making it easy to reach, and it is popular with both visitors and local residents as a quiet neighborhood bathhouse.

The water is classified as a sodium chloride spring, with a source temperature of 45.7°C and a pH of 6.0. Clear and faintly saline, the water carries mineral content similar to seawater and is diluted slightly to reach a comfortable bathing temperature before flowing continuously into the tub. Thanks to its salt content, the water retains heat well after bathing, a quality shared by several of Hachijojima's other hot springs.

The bathhouse itself is a small wooden building with a single cypress-wood tub in each of the separate men's and women's indoor baths; there is no open-air bath. Large windows look out over the Kuroshio Current, and on clear days bathers can see Aogashima Island, some 67 kilometers to the south. Shampoo, body soap, and hair dryers are provided, and a free-to-use rest area with a massage chair is available. The bath is open from 10:00 to 21:00 (last entry 20:30) and closed on Thursdays, except during public holidays, summer, and the New Year period. Admission is 300 yen for adults and 100 yen for elementary school children and town residents aged 70 and over.
