Nozawa Onsen Kiriya Ryokan

Kiriya Ryokan stands in the Nozawa Onsen hot-spring town in Nozawa Onsen Village, Shimotakai District, Nagano Prefecture, an area famous for its circuit of public bathhouses. The inn draws on two of its own natural hot-spring sources rising within its own grounds, and is also known as a cat inn, with several resident mascot cats wandering the building.

The water is a weakly alkaline simple sulfur spring. Because the inn was built directly over a spot where the spring rises naturally, without any drilling, it offers undiluted, unheated 100% source water around the clock, except during cleaning hours. The inn belongs to the Nozawa Onsen Genuine Source Bathing Association.

The indoor bath occupies the second floor of the main building, with separate baths for men and women. Guest rooms are spread across three buildings, totalling 14 to 15 rooms in Japanese-style, Japanese-Western, and detached wooden-annex styles. Check-in is from 3pm (last arrival 7pm), check-out at 10am, curfew at 11pm, and the entire building is non-smoking. Five of the town's public bathhouses and a foot bath sit within a 10-minute walk, and guests who book directly through the official website receive perks such as early access to the parking lot and changing room before check-in, plus free rental of towels and yukata.
