Yuya Onsen Hazuki
Hot Spring Overview
Located in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture, within the scenic Horai Gorge along the Ure River, Hazuki is a small ryokan in Yuya Onsen, a hot spring town said to have been discovered around 1,300 years ago by Rishu Sennin, the founding priest of nearby Horaiji Temple. The adjacent Horaisan Toshogu Shrine, one of Japan's three major Toshogu shrines dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, adds historical depth to the area. With only five guest rooms, Hazuki offers an intimate, quiet retreat.
The spring water is classified as a sodium chloride spring (hypotonic, neutral, low-temperature spring), with a source temperature of 35.9°C. The water is colorless and odorless, supplied on a source-fed, non-circulating kake-nagashi basis without added water, giving bathers a warming, mineral-rich soak known locally for its lasting warmth.
The all-wood sukiya-style building houses a hinoki cypress open-air bath overlooking the valley as well as an indoor bath, both reservable for private use by overnight guests (approximately 40 minutes per session). The inn is known for Chinese herbal kaiseki cuisine prepared by a chef trained in Shanghai. Day-trip bathing is offered only as part of a reservation-only lunch plan, available from 11:00 to 14:30.
