Yuya Onsen Ryoso Mitsui
Hot Spring Overview
Yuya Onsen, set along the Ure River in Shinshiro City, Aichi Prefecture, is said to have been discovered around 1,300 years ago by Rishu, the founder of Horaiji Temple. Ryoso Mitsui, just a three-minute walk from Yuya Onsen Station on the JR Iida Line, is one of the few remaining inns in the area still open to day-trip bathers.
The water is officially classified as a sodium-calcium chloride spring drawn from a 35.6°C source, prized for its deep golden color and faint metallic scent. The indoor bath is heated but supplied 100 percent directly from the source with no recirculation, according to the inn; however, whether the open-air and private baths are diluted or recirculated is not officially disclosed.
The inn offers an indoor bath, a river-view open-air bath, and a private family bath. Day-trip bathing costs 1,000 yen for adults and 500 yen for children under elementary-school age (free for age three and under), available from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in one-hour reserved blocks by advance reservation. Free parking for nine cars is available, about a 10-minute drive from Horaikyo IC.
