Terme VILLA Chura-yu (The Beach Tower Okinawa)

Terme VILLA Chura-yu is a natural hot spring facility on the grounds of the resort hotel The Beach Tower Okinawa in Mihama, Chatan Town, central Okinawa. The surrounding Mihama Town Resort American Village stands on land created after Hanby Airfield, a coastal part of the U.S. military's Camp Foster, was returned in 1981 and the adjacent shoreline was reclaimed from 1988 onward, making it a symbolic site of postwar Okinawa's base returns and redevelopment. Overlooking Sunset Beach and a Ferris wheel, it lets visitors combine sightseeing and bathing.

The spring is a sodium bicarbonate spring drawn from a source named Chatan Megumi Onsen Mihama no Yu. Welling up from about 1,400 meters underground, the water is 42.1 degrees Celsius with a pH of 8.47, a weakly alkaline, hypotonic, high-temperature spring. The open-air bath offers free-flowing source water and is prized as a skin-beautifying bath, with indications including nerve, muscle and joint pain, sensitivity to cold, fatigue recovery, cuts, burns and chronic skin conditions.

The bathing area includes an open-air bath, indoor bath and a high-temperature sauna, while the swimsuit zone features Okinawa's first natural hot spring healing pool and multipurpose pools. Standard admission (9:00-23:00) is 1,800 yen for adults, 800 yen for children and 1,300 yen for those 65 and over. The indoor baths open 7:00-23:00 (last entry 22:00) and the outdoor pools 10:00-21:00, open year-round.
