Takeo Onsen Onyado Chikurintei
Hot Spring Overview
Onyado Chikurintei is a prestigious sukiya-style Japanese inn nestled within the grounds of Mifuneyama Rakuen, a nationally registered monument garden spanning approximately 500,000 square meters that opened in 1845, in Takeo City, Saga Prefecture. The inn earned the highest rating of 5 Red Pavilions in the Michelin Guide Fukuoka & Saga 2014, and features 11 uniquely designed guest rooms. Takeo Onsen boasts a history of approximately 1,300 years, and at Chikurintei, guests can feel the historical connection to the Nabeshima clan of Takeo. The water quality is a mildly alkaline simple spring, rich in carbonate ions that produce a smooth, silky skin-beautifying effect. The colorless, transparent water has a characteristically viscous feel and flows from the source at approximately 50 degrees Celsius, enabling near-direct free-flowing use. Guests can enjoy bathing in the outdoor bath surrounded by bamboo groves or the large bath crafted from hinoki cypress and granite, all while gazing at the seasonal beauty of Mifuneyama. The garden offers spectacular views throughout the year, including cherry blossoms and azaleas in spring and illuminated autumn foliage. Overnight guests receive complimentary admission to Mifuneyama Rakuen.
