Shin-Tojiba Akiyama Onsen

Shin-Tojiba Akiyama Onsen is a day-use hot spring facility set among forested hills in Akiyama, Uenohara City, Yamanashi Prefecture. It was built in 1996 as a public facility of the former Akiyama Village and became a city facility of Uenohara after the municipal merger in 2005. It lies about 15 minutes by car from the Uenohara Interchange on the Chuo Expressway.

The water is an alkaline simple hot spring with a high pH of about 9.8 and a lukewarm temperature of around 36 degrees Celsius. The kakenagashi (free-flowing) bath uses the spring water as it wells up, without heating or dilution, and leaves the skin smooth, which is why it is known as a beauty bath. Indoor and outdoor spa pools also use hot spring water.

The gender-separated baths include the free-flowing bath, an open-air bath, a bubble bath and saunas (steam for men, dry for women). The facility also has a 25-meter indoor pool, the Momijitei restaurant, a massage corner and a shop. Admission is 1,000 yen for adults (600 yen after 5 p.m.). It is open from 10:00 to 21:00 (last entry 20:30) and closed every Monday.
