Noji Onsen is a hot spring located at an elevation of 1,200 meters in Tsuchiyu Onsen Town, Fukushima City, Fukushima Prefecture, within the Bandai-Asahi National Park. Situated on the northwestern slope of Mount Onimen at the northernmost end of the Adatara mountain range, the hot spring is surrounded by magnificent primeval beech forests.
The spring water is characterized by its milky white sulfur content and soft texture that gently envelops the skin like silk cotton. It is 100% free-flowing natural hot spring water without any dilution or heating, containing abundant yubana (hot spring mineral deposits). Guests can enjoy six different types of baths with distinct characteristics, including the open-air bath "Onimen no Yu" overlooking the beech forest, the "Senju no Yu" made entirely of cypress wood, and the "Tengu no Yu" where bathers can move between the indoor and outdoor baths while staying in the water.
Noji Onsen Hotel operates year-round, making it a rare mountain hot spring facility at such high altitude. It is also popular as a base for climbing Mount Azuma and Mount Adatara, allowing visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of all four seasons. During the autumn foliage season (mid to late October), visitors can view the colorful beech forest from the open-air bath, and at night, the illuminated atmosphere creates a fantastical experience.
The hotel achieved the number one ranking in Rakuten Travel's Annual Popular Hot Spring Inn Rankings for two consecutive years in 2015 and 2016, and was certified as one of the "250 Popular Hot Spring Hotels and Inns Selected by Travel Industry" in 2017. Noji Onsen has also been selected as one of "Japan's Top 100 Hot Springs Chosen by Professionals" and is highly regarded as a representative beautiful hot spring in the Tohoku region.
