Oga Onsen Motoyu Yuzankaku

Hot Spring Overview

A long-established ryokan located on a hilltop in the Oga Onsen resort area on the northern part of the Oga Peninsula, Akita Prefecture, famous for its Namahage folklore. The inn owns a private hot spring source that emerged following the 1939 earthquake, providing abundant 100% natural hot spring water. The water quality is sodium-chloride spring with a source temperature of 54.4 degrees Celsius and a neutral pH of 7.5. The highlight is the pure kakenagashi (free-flowing source water) system with no dilution, heating, or chlorination. The mineral-rich milky water changes color from green to brown depending on the season and temperature. The distinctive outdoor rock bath themed after Namahage offers panoramic views of Oga's nature. Known for treating neuralgia, muscle pain, joint pain, frozen shoulder, and chronic skin conditions, the inn is also a member of the Japan Association of Secluded Hot Springs. With easy access to scenic spots like Nyudozaki Cape and Kanpuzan Mountain, guests can enjoy both Oga's folk culture and secluded hot springs.
